Nurdle Patrol

Project is inactive

It might sound like a kid’s cartoon series, but the Nurdle Patrol is anything but!

Named after the raw plastic used in manufacturing, this project seeks to stem the flow of millions of these pesky pellets washing up on our coastlines every year.

Since 2018, over 9,000 citizen scientists from over 25 countries have been conducting 10-minute surveys along beaches, riverbanks, and lake shorelines locating and recording these microplastics.

By discovering where these pellets are coming from, scientists at the University of Texas Marine Science Institute hope to influence policymakers and prevent these plastics from ever reaching our ocean.

WHAT

Join an international community tracking nurdle plastic pollution.

HOW

Conduct your own own nurdle survey and share how many pellets you found and where via an app.
