Marine mammals face global threats such as commercial whaling, fishing and pollution. These challenges jeopardise their survival and the balance of marine environments. Happywhale is on a mission to enhance understanding and concern for marine ecosystems through conservation science and education. By sharing your images of marine mammals, you can help learn more about these magnificent creatures, their migratory patterns and population dynamics. They use state-of-the-art image processing algorithms to match whale photos with scientific collections. This newly developed efficiency now makes global whale tracking more possible than ever.

WHAT

Help humanity better understand the world’s whales, and to use this understanding to better protect whales and their ocean environment.

PROJECT SOCIALS

FRO_squares_white_edited_edited.png

EVERY DAY WE RECEIVE 500 TO 1000 IMAGES OF MARINE MAMMALS AROUND THE WORLD. WE WORK HARD TO ID EVERY ONE, AND TELL YOU IMMEDIATELY WHAT WE’VE FOUND. WE HAVE SEEN THAT IMMEDIATE FEEDBACK IS HUGELY VALUED BY BOTH RESEARCH COLLABORATORS AND CITIZEN SCIENTISTS!
