Beluga Bits

Project is inactive

In the summer, Hudson Bay plays host to over 50,000 beluga whales.

But much about their lives is still unknown.

If you’ve ever wanted to see belugas in the wild, but going to the Arctic is just a little too out of the way, this is your lucky chance!

Through the Beluga Bits website, anyone can take part in helping to unravel the mysteries of these highly social “canaries of the sea”

By helping to categorize their online images and recording each whale’s age sex and pod size, you can help scientists gain greater insight into this elusive species.

WHAT

Examine underwater photos of wild beluga whales and help to identify the age, sex, and group size.
